hi group, i'm going to attempt a question.
2. I think primary orality is what is spoken and passed on and secondary orality is what is written down. Secondary orality according to Ong is interactions of orality in writing, print and electronics. According to Wikipedia's results on Ong, primary orality is about thought and verbal expression in cultures.

hi tim,
ReplyDeletejust to respond your answer, i am agree with what you said about primary orality, i think is just spoken where people are totally unfamiliar with writing whereas secondry orality is spoken also use of writing and printing.
Hi Z!L@n,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I think primary orality is about cultures who tried to express their culture in earlier times, and secondary orality is about modern day communication of writing that can be on computer, radio or tv.
Hi group,
ReplyDeleteI've done blogging before for Popular Genre's so if you dont know how to put a comment up, just ask me.
Hey guys,
ReplyDeleteI think you are all right about the diferences betwen primary and secondary orality. I would also like to add, the reason as to why secondary orality is infact 'secondary' is because if it wasnt for primary orality in the first place, we would not ever be able to have literature as Ong mentions, all our letters and words are stil based on the 'sounds' which they produce. There is a clear difference in sound and tone between the words Rough and Smooth for example and i think this is strolgy influenced by primary orality. Also, with secondary orality, comes various forms of intertextualisation, drawing on many forms of commuinication and knowledge, but all of which undoubtedly stem from primary orality.
